Details about this class
BI 112, Cell Biology, is an exciting and challenging course that will present information relevant to your every day life! This course is a prerequisite for BI231, BI232, BI233, and BI234. It is an extremely fast-paced course that presents scientific topics in significant detail. Although there is no science prerequisite to take this class, students who do not have any biology and/or chemistry background should speak to their academic advisor or me before registering for this course. Students who have strong study skills, biology/chemistry/physics background (high school or college) have a higher chance of successfully completing this course. It is a time consuming class and students should expect to spend 10-15 hours, outside of class, studying the material. We meet twice a week for lecture (2 hours each time) and once a week for lab (3 hours).
You are welcome to purchase an older edition of the textbook, if you can find it cheaper online. The lab book must be purchased new from the Sylvania campus PCC bookstore.
