Details about this class
Thank you for your interest in this class. Here are some things you may want to know before signing up:
This course will be taught in-person on the PCC Cascade campus. Note that this course has both a lecture and a lab that you must attend.
Please check the day, time, and location for attending class.
Textbook:
Yes, you should have a textbook for this course, but I do not care what textbook you use.
► The official free online textbook can be found at https://openstax.org/details/books/biology-2e . I will be using this textbook to construct my lecture and reading list (primarily chapters 1-17). But you can find equivalent information from other sources. I, personally like physical books.
► I see lots of inexpensive biology textbooks on the google. Make sure it is "college-level" and published within the last 5-ish years.
Lab Manual:
Yes, we have a lab manual. You will need to purchase the lab manual at the Cascade Book Store "CASCADE BIOLOGY 112 LAB MANUAL F23". Do not purchase the lab manual from another location!
Note: Although the lecture and lab scores for this course are combined, they are taught as separate components.
► Lecture: I use a “traditional” PowerPoint style of lecturing.
Each week there will be a homework assignment and a lecture quiz. There will also be 1 “super-quiz, 1 midterm and a comprehensive final exam.
► Lab:
Each week’s lab will be composed of exercises and activities, a graded pre-lab and a lab quiz. There will also be a “micro-world” project and writing/research projects.
I look forward to having you in class….. if you choose this class
