Details about this class

Watercolor is a fun, portable and a popular painting media! In this class, we will learn about watercolor paints and how they work, and the way painting can open our eyes to the amazing world around us!

We will begin with experimenting with different techniques of using watercolor paint and do some color mixing together. Then we will proceed to explore different subject themes with specific techniques and then end the course with an in-depth exploration of a theme of your choosing.

Along the way, we will look at the work of contemporary and historical watercolor painters from around the world for inspiration, and regularly view some short videos about artists and their practices - almost like having an invitation into their actual studios! Demos accompany each assignment.

Class will meet at PCC's Rock Creek Campus. Class will feature demonstrations, discussions, and open lab painting time with instructor feedback.

All Materials needed for the class will be available as a kit from the bookstore or from local stores. You won't need materials on the first day as I will be doing a thorough review of supplies needed for the course on that day.
