Details about this class
ART 243 The Photographic Portfolio
Portfolio students who utilize the darkroom in their work will be better suited for this term as SE has more robust darkroom facilities.
Students enrolled in the Photographic Portfolio have a specific goal in mind (Portfolio project, body of work, etc.) that they will be working on throughout the term. Portfolio students propose a plan with timelines, goals and end product for the term and work more independent of the class in order to achieve their goals. Participation in the class critiques, activities and coursework is necessary. At the end of the term, portfolio students will present their work to the class during finals week.

Technology
The Photographic Portfolio is concurrently offered with Darkroom courses. This course is ideal for folks whose work will need access to a traditional Darkroom set up and may also involve digital printing or scanning of negatives. Southeast campus has a well supported analog darkroom workspace but limited access to digital printing and scanning resources. Students are welcome to bring their own practice to the class but should know the environment in which they will be working.
Students registered for Photographic Portfolio will have access to Adobe CC for the duration of the term.
Students will be required to utilize the open lab times available to them. These labs - both darkroom and digital labs and printing services are available on the Sylvania Campus & Southeast Campus which both have darkroom open lab resources.
Epson Scanners - SE campus has two epson negative scanners available for student's use during open lab hours and during class time. Sylvania has two epson negative scanners available whenever lab is open.
MAC lab - Sylvania has a large classroom and two extra rooms for Mac labs during open lab times. SE does not have a Mac lab, however, does have computer resources at the library and two Mac workstations for students to use during open lab times.
Printing - SE and SY campuses both provide fine art printing resources.
Darkroom - SE campus has a large darkroom with open lab hours available M-F weekly. Sylvania has a small (4 enlarger) darkroom that is open to film students when the lab is open. M-TH 10am - 6pm
Studio - Sylvania campus has a large lighting studio that can be reserved by students outside of scheduled class time.
Note: Transportation - The PCC shuttle runs to and from Sylvania from Southeast on a regular schedule weekly.
