Details about this class
This course will introduce and explore fundamental issues of painting. Focus will be placed on work in the classroom, investigating and developing methods and techniques of painting and working with issues of image making including color, composition, and expression. Assignments will be given and discussed, exploring the use of these aspects of painting, and creative approaches to problem solving. Works will be discussed and /or critiqued in class either one on one with the instructor or with the class. During class critiques additional issues will be tackled, such as art historical context, cultural and societal relationships, and levels of meaning and expression found in the work.
