Details about this class

During the term, we will work on a residential design project, using analysis, design concepts, sketching, and CAD drawings.  The term's work will culminate in a basic set of architectural design drawings for attached homes.  Design ideas and process, along with an overview of building codes (as needed for residential application), will be covered in the class.  A combination of slides and design examples, videos, and breakout rooms will be used during class meetings.

Note that the classes will be offered in "hybrid" format.  We will meet via zoom calls on Mondays, and will meet in-person at the Sylvania campus for studio time on Wednesdays (a detailed schedule of our meetings will be available in the class syllabus).  The in-person studio time on Wednesdays will provide time for everyone to work on the class design project, receive instructor feedback, and collaborate with others in the class.

Technology

This class is "hybrid"; we will meet once/week via zoom, on Mondays, and in-person on Wednesdays, during the days & times shown on the schedule. To join Zoom meetings on Mondays, use the "Zoom" tab, on the class D2L site. You will need your computer set up with a camera and microphone for the Monday zoom meetings.  Design projects done as part of the class will  use either AutoCAD or Revit software; your computer should meet specifications to operate this software.

No show policy

Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class.

Students with disabilities
