Details about this class
This course is an introduction to Comparative Politics, which is the study of politics within countries around the world. The topics we will explore include, among others: the origin and varieties of the state form, the distinctions between democratic and non-democratic political systems and how they work, current trends in democratic and authoritarian rule around the world, and comparative political economy with a focus on how different political systems impact economic development and growth.
There is no required textbook to purchase. All of the course readings will be posted on the course website.
