Details about this class
This course focuses on foundational universal concepts of music composition.
We will practice compositional skills each class period through activities, collaboration, discussion, and song analysis. Please bring any supplies you might need to notate or play your compositional ideas.
Guitars or other portable instruments are welcome in the classroom!
This course is taught by Rachel Brashear. She is a composer, performer, and educator with over 20 years of experience. She holds a BAS in Commercial Music and is an active member of the Portland music industry.
Technology
This course includes the use of Musescore notation software (free), and notating by hand. Please bring pencils and blank manuscript paper to each class period.
No show policy
Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class.
