• I use labor-based grading in my courses, which means that the grade you earn is up to you and the amount of work you decide to complete (there's a section on this in the sample syllabus below). While there are requirements and standards for your work, if you meet them then your work receives credit. There are due date requirements, but partial credit is available for assignments submitted past the due date.

I typically modify my syllabi from one term to the next, but here is the Spring '25 version of PHL 202. It will probably undergo some minor changes before Fall 2025, but should give you a sense of my teaching approach and (generally) how assignments and attendance work in our course.
