Details about this class

In this course, students will learn the concepts of mechanical drives to include belts, pulley systems, gears, and chain drives as it pertains to the mechatronics industry. Efficiencies in various systems will be presented with some topics requiring calculations using basic algebra that will be taught as we progress through the course. Students will experience the concepts in the laboratory environment where they will learn the aspects of safety while operating mechanical components that make up a mechanical drive system. Students will learn about the use of several tools related to mechanical drive components including basic mechanic's wrenches, torque wrenches, torsion meters, alignment tools, force measurements, tensioners, and gap tools.

Outcomes of this course will provide the student with experience handling basic mechanical systems, test equipment and tools for general industrial or manufacturing environments.
