Details about this class
Course Description:
In MM 116: DIY Video we will focus on methods and workflows for creating video and multimedia stories using low-cost, accessible technology such as smartphones/tablets, action cameras, affordable lighting kits/natural lighting, and best practices for good audio recording using mobile devices. We will also focus on accessible, cheap or free editing and distribution methods. We will use these tools and techniques and learn how to plan, capture media, edit, and share stories about oneself, places, communities, and organizations. The content of the projects will be student-led, and students will be encouraged to use the tools and techniques we learn to tell their own stories and develop their own creative voice. We will be using students' own smartphones to capture media for projects and free media editing apps to edit and distribute them.
