GS 106 Introduction to Earth Systems introduces you ow the systems of the Earth (atmosphere, oceans, water cycle, rock cycle, and biogeochemical cycles)  and how they control conditions at the Earth's surface and how we as humans are changing these systems and cycles. . This is an on campus class with class meetings Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:00-11:50 am at Southeast Campus in SCOM 308.  You are expected to attend all scheduled class meetings. The class will be taught in a combined  lecture lab format with frequent hands on activities and  labs which will require the use of in class materials as well as discussion and lecture. 

 

Optional Portland Area Field Trip

This class includes a project on the geology of Portland which you can complete by participating in a class field trip or by writing a guided research paper. The class fieldtrip will use van transportation provided by PCC and will leave Southeast Campus on Saturday 10/25 at 8:30 am and return by 6pm. More details about both options the first day of class.

Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class.
