Details about this class
Geo 280A is an individual, work-based learning experience where you earn academic credit for completing GIS or geospatial work with an organization, agency, or company. This course is designed to help you apply your GIS skills in a real-world setting while building professional experience.
Course Structure-
This class does not meet; all work is completed directly with your internship organization.

Internships can be on-site or remote.

Completed independently with supervision from your site supervisor.

Internship projects often make excellent portfolio pieces.

Must involve strong GIS or geospatial tasks, activities, or project work.

To earn 4 credits, you must complete 120 hours of GIS or geospatial-focused work.

You must register and pay for the credits just like any other class.

You cannot register on your own.

Secure an internship or work-based opportunity with meaningful GIS/geospatial tasks.

May be with your current employer if you are doing GIS work or can complete a geospatial project.

Only after paperwork is submitted will the instructor register you for the course.
Timing & Flexibility-
Internships do not need to start or end with PCC term dates.
