About your instructor:

I’ve been part of the community at PCC for most of my adult life—first as a student in the 1990s, and since 2006 as
an instructor in the ENGR and CADD departments. My teaching is shaped by nearly three decades in product design,
engineering, manufacturing, and quality, beginning in medical device development and later expanding into museum
exhibit design at OMSI, and now quality engineering. Along the way, I’ve designed everything from medical devices, earthquake simulators featured on Mythbusters, and systems supporting more than 100 businesses across the Pacific Northwest.
I bring those experiences into the classroom so students can see how CAD, design, and manufacturing connect in the real
world. Outside PCC, my life has been shaped by family, travel, and community. My wife teaches kindergarten and our three children have taken paths ranging from military aviation to international study and more teaching—each spending a year of high school abroad through Rotary Youth Exchange. My family has hosted twelve international exchange students, and we’ve traveled widely across the U.S., South America, Europe, Africa, and beyond.  These experiences remind me how much people around the world accomplish with limited resources; which shapes the way I teach, mentor, and support our students. I’m grateful for the opportunity to help students learn that they truly can change the world —and for the colleagues at PCC who make this work both meaningful and enjoyable.

About this course:

  1. This is an in-person class.
We meet as a group in the classroom at the prescribed times listed in the course schedule.
That means you are expected to attend , participate in lecture discussions and be present.

  2. Dropbox.com account is also required, which is free if you don’t already have one. I'll send out invites as we get closer to the term.  This is similar to Google Drive.

  3. There is a designated computer lab for you to use during class time.    And, the software will be provided free of charge, but you will need your own Windows 11 computer.  SolidWorks does not run in MacOS.   Again, to install the software at home you will need a PC desktop or laptop running Windows 10/11.  Follow this link for basic computer requirements.
