Course Description

This ONLINE Course introduces the administration of systems utilizing the Linux operating system. It is designed to prepare students for an entry-level position as an administrator of a system utilizing the Linux operating system. Content focuses on knowledge and skills necessary for day-to-day operations on a Linux system using the command line. This is the first course of a two-course sequence.

Note the class type is: Online (with scheduled meetings) 

There will be a weekly zoom session held on:

9:00 AM - 10:50 AM Monday

 

Intended Outcomes for the Course

  1.  Design, install, and administer a simple configuration of the Linux operating system.

  2. Administer system boot process, user accounts, system permissions, Linux file system hierarchy, software packages, and system tasks.

  3. Monitor and maintain Linux operating system processes, performance, and backups.

Technology

  • A usb thumb drive (memory stick) for at least one assignment

Our course uses content from the Red Hat Academy (RHA) and  two associated  textbooks.

  • RED HAT SYSTEM ADMIN I (R8RH124-EN-SG-P) 
  • RED HAT SYSTEM ADMIN II (R8RH134-EN-SG-P)

This will require enrolling in red hat academy.  Instructions will be provided in the first week.

No show policy

Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class.
