March 2022

Hey PCC friends! I hope you won’t mind if I interrupt your work day to share some photos of our new lamb crop, as well as some general farm news.Baby lamb at Rock Creek Farm

Lambing started on Saturday, February 6th and ended Friday, March 4th. From nine ewes we had 22 lambs born, 13 females and nine males. These lambs are a mix of purebred Finns and Merino/Finn crosses. I’m incredibly proud of our ewes this year as the majority of them are first-time moms and are doing a stellar job at raising multiples. I’m also proud of the Vet Tech students who were always enthusiastic to learn new skills such as tube feeding lambs and hand milking ewes. Lambing season can be exhausting but the excitement the students bring to it makes it one of my favorite times of the year.A bucket of lambs

In fall of last year, the farm acquired two new additions who are guaranteed to put a smile on your face. Redford and Merlin are our new resident pigs, and if you are able to visit the farm, you will usually find them lounging in the sun or asking for snacks and scratches.

The farm now has its own web page and social media! Please check out:
