Apply for the Animation and Motion Graphics degree

New students are encouraged to select the Multimedia certificate when applying to PCC. First-term Multimedia certificate classes stack into the Animation and Motion Graphics AAS degree. Successful applicants complete the steps below, attend a Multimedia information session as soon as possible, and sign up early – program classes fill up quickly.

How to apply

  1. Apply to PCC

    Complete this step as soon as possible so you can start using PCC resources. On the application, choose the Multimedia certificate major. (Your major will be updated after you’re admitted to the program.)

  2. Take prerequisites

    Take first-term and second-term classes. Classes must be completed with a grade of “B” or better before winter term.

    • MM 112: Digital Media Foundations (offered every term, take as soon as possible)
    • MM 120: Multimedia Design (offered fall, winter, spring)
    • MM 118: Previsualization for Digital Media (offered fall, winter, spring)
    • MM 235: Video Editing (offered every term, concurrent with MM 112)
    • MM 230: Graphics for Multimedia (MM 112 prerequisite)
    • MM 231: 2D Animation (MM 112 prerequisite or concurrent)
  3. Attend information session

    Attend a Multimedia information session as soon as possible.

  4. Request to be admitted

    There is no formal application to the program. We will update your major when you successfully complete the prerequisites and email us to ask that you be admitted to the Animation and Motion Graphics degree.

If you are waiting until the prerequisite classes are offered, you can also take the following classes any time before admittance into the Animation and Motion Graphics degree, in any order:

  • Art 131A: Drawing 1 (or Art 115: Basic Design: 2D Foundations, or Art 161: Intro to Animation) – counts as general education
  • Art 116: Basic Design: Color Foundations (or Art 237A: Drawing the Human Figure) – counts as general education
  • BA 150: Intro to Entrepreneurship (or BA 235: Social Media Marketing, or BA 250: Small Business Design, or COMM 130: Business & Professional Communication)
  • Other associate degree requirements:
    • WR 121: English Composition
    • MTH 58: Math Literacy I (complete the placement process to see if you need to take this)
    • Social Science (fulfills general education)
    • Science or Math > 100 level (fulfills general education)
    • Please review the list of acceptable general education classes on your Grad Plan.
