Fencing closes campus parking lots as Southeast Center construction shifts into high gear

Beginning January 5, all campus parking lots and walkways from SE Division Street will be closed. Walkways and campus entrances will reopen in August 2013 for Fall term.

On January 4, 2013, construction crews at Southeast Center will close all parking lots and campus entrances (by car or on foot) along SE Division Street.

O’Neill/Walsh Community Builders, the construction manager/general contractor PCC selected for Southeast, are expanding the construction site (yellow area) to build the new student commons and learning commons buildings and expand campus food service area in Mt. Tabor Hall. Conducting the construction and expansion at the same time will save the college money and time and reduce the period of disruption to students and classes.  The new student commons is slated to be completed and ready for classes in Winter 2014, the learning commons in spring 2014, and food service expansion by next fall (2013).

All walkways and campus entrances from Division street will reopen in August 2013 – just in time for Fall term. In addition to the new buildings, the former parking lots will be transformed into campus green space and open space (see site plan below).

During the eight months when Division Street entrances are closed, all PCC employees and students driving to Southeast must use entrances on SE 82nd Avenue (red arrows) to access parking on campus and at the Slavic Church Emmanual. All lots will still require PCC parking permits. The church lot (green area) is open to students and staff Monday through Thursday, 7 am-5 pm.

The campus site plan, developed by architects with SRG Partnership, illustrates what the future Southeast campus will look like once bond improvements are completed in 2017.

PCC staff and students are reminded to not park in the neighborhood (Southeast Parking Enforcement Area).  As before, PCC is patrolling the area and will ticket PCC employees or students $25 for parking in the neighborhood. Residents have been asked to contact PCC directly to report employees or students who park in front of their homes.

With the changes on campus comes opportunities as well.  You can save yourself money and frustration by using the bus, carpool or bike.  Visit the PCC Parking Services for information about alternative commuting options.

It looks like the wrong webcam is showing for the SE Campus.

The webcam is on top of the Mt. Scott Hall looking south toward SE Division Street and Bank of the West. In the image, SE 82nd Avenue is on the left side. However, it hasn’t updated since yesterday, December 17. We will check it out and update as soon as possible. Thanks for checking.
