Donations and families needed for Thanksgiving basket project

Photos and Story by

Each year Cascade Campus ASPCC (student government) and its chapter of Phi Theta Kappa give Thanksgiving baskets to more than 50 student families. The goal is to make the Holiday a happy, stress free time for those students who might find it a financial burden.

Last year, staff, faculty and students donated cash that went to purchase 56 baskets for Cascade students. Again, organizers are asking for your donation. Anyone can donate by visiting Room 03 of the Student Center at anytime. Receipts are available for tax purposes. Needy students have until Tuesday, Nov. 1 to apply for a Thanksgiving basket. If you know of a student who would benefit from this service, please encourage them to apply. Family’s selected by lottery will be notified by Nov. 14.

“We are selecting students using a lottery system so everyone has an equal opportunity,” said Cascade student leadership coordinator Kendi Esary. “Thanks to your generous support we have been able to help every qualified student who have applied for this program over the past several years. We are also always in need of canned and non-perishable food items for the food nook. Thank you for supporting these services.”

For an application, visit student government at Room 03 in the Student Center.
