PHOTOS: First day of school, plenty of welcoming help

Volunteers made sure students’ first day of classes for the new year went smoothly with Welcome Stations and by positioning themselves by long lines at the business office in the CC Mall. The Welcome Stations had been set up at four locations across the Sylvania Campus the first two days of the term. The Welcome Stations are equipped with resource information such as campus maps, schedule of class and a room locator as well treats. The tables were staffed by informed student, faculty, and staff volunteers.

  • Portland Community College, ranked 19th nationally in community college enrollment, has grown by 42 percent in credit students the past five years.
  • A packed crowd for the first week of school at the Sylvania Campus. PCC grew for the 18th straight term this winter.
  • It is always a busy day at PCC campuses. This fall, total headcount and full-time equivalent (FTE) students have grown by 8.7 percent, respectively.
  • Students wait for the name to be called outside of the Cascade Campus placement testing office the first week of school.
