Blog: President meets President

Photos and Story by

Last weekend, as we were getting ready to flit off to Washington, D.C., we heard President Obama was going to be at Intel in Hillsboro on Friday.

PCC has a great partnership with Intel, training their technicians. So naturally, we wanted to make sure the college president, Preston Pulliams, was in the room. Kristin Watkins, our vice president for college advancement, stayed in Oregon and burned through the telephone wires. I went to D.C. with the president and worked our congressional delegation for an invite.

There’s such a thing as being too successful.

Kristen got Dr. Pulliams into the Intel event via an invite from Intel. We got home to Oregon around 10 p.m. last night and my cell phone started going nuts. One of our U.S. Senators was inviting our guy to the big event! (I’m not naming names here.)

We had to say “thanks but no thanks, he’s already there,” when this morning, two more members of the Oregon congressional delegation got back to us with invites!

If I had any brains I’d go with him, but I’ll be in Salem lobbying for another jobs-creating program that’s in danger of being de-funded.
