Put your bilingual skills to work with legal interpreting class

PORTLAND, Ore. – If you can speak a second language, you have more than an enhanced ability to communicate you also have the ability to interpret for others. Portland Community College can show you how to leverage your language skills into a rewarding career with a non-credit class in legal interpreting. For individuals with no interpreting experience and for working interpreters with little or no formal training, Fundamentals of Legal Interpreting is the class that can jumpstart your career. Instructor Vanessa Pancic-Meier will teach students the building blocks of legal interpreting: analyzing, summarizing, paraphrasing, listening comprehension and shadowing. The 10-week class will meet from 1 to 3 p.m., Saturdays, Jan. 8 through March 12, in Room 209 at the Central Workforce Training Center, 1626 S.E. Water Ave. Cost is $159.
