PCC offers one-week language institutes

PORTLAND, Ore. – In just one week, you can turn your conversational foreign language skills to near-fluency. Portland Community College language institutes make it possible. This summer, PCC will offer non-credit institutes in four of the most popular languages as follows: ? French Immersion Institute. Paris comes to Portland. Intermediate and advanced students can become immersed in French the best way to really learn the language. Experience fun, structured, real-life French through conversation, structured grammar lessons, games and exercises. This class will run from 9 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday, June 21 to 25, at Riverdale High School, 9727 S.W. Terwilliger Blvd. Cost is $89. ? German Immersion Institute. With fun, structured, real-life German, intermediate and advanced students will improve their skills. Institute offers learning through conversation skills, grammar, games and exercises. Students should bring a dictionary, verb book and notebook. This class will run from 9 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday, June 21 to 25, at Riverdale High School, 9727 S.W. Terwilliger Blvd. Cost is $89. ? Spanish Immersion Institute: Intermediate. Experience intensive Spanish instruction. Build comprehension through conversation skills, grammar, games and exercises, plus a cooking lesson and film in Spanish. This class will run from 9 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday, June 21 to 25, at the West Hills Friends Meeting House, 7425 S.W. 52 Ave. Cost is $89. ? Spanish Immersion Institute: Advanced. Searching for fluency? Find it this week with speaking and structured exercises. Students will test their skills through films in Spanish, culture, music, fun activities and more. Bring a verb book, dictionary and notebook. This class will run from 9 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday, June 28 to July 2, at Riverdale High School, 9727 S.W. Terwilliger Blvd. Cost is $89. ? Chinese Immersion Institute (One-Day Institute). This institute is led by Becky Liu, a native of the country and fluent in the language. With a focus on culture, students will build comprehension and fluid speech in a fun, intense learning environment. This class will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday July 10, in Room 135 of Mt.
