Photos and Story by

The Portland Community College Cascade Campus will bring more than 70 of Oregon’s most desirable employers to north Portland for the Spring Career and Job Fair 2000. The fair will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2 at the campus’ Borthwick Mall, located at 705 N. Killingsworth. Parking and admission are free of charge and the public is invited.

The fair will provide networking opportunities for PCC students, people seeking new career options, and anybody wishing to see the multitude of employment opportunities that are out there. Kay Coryell, committee chair for the career festival and student employment specialist at the Cascade Campus, said that campus’ friendly and diverse atmosphere is perfect for people to learn about various industries.

"We place a heavy emphasis on inviting companies related to medical and science, business and government because of the number of professional and technical programs offered at Cascade," Coryell said. "There will be something for everyone."

Some of the high-profile companies and organizations that will meet students and the community will include: Wells Fargo Bank, American Red Cross, Fed Ex Ground, Portland General Electric, Coca Cola Bottling Company of Oregon, City of Portland Environmental Services, U.S. Bank, Washington State Patrol and the Department of Justice.

These employers and others are looking for both full- and part-time employees as well as summer jobs. Also scheduled for the day will be workshops on interviewing, career transitions and electronic resumes. All job seekers are welcomed and encouraged to bring their resume. For more information on companies at the fair, contact Kay Coryell at 503-978-5290.
