Smash the Language Barrier

TANASBOURNE — Having trouble reaching Spanish-speaking students? Por que? Take the first step in smashing the language barrier in Spanish for Teachers-Beginning, an eight-week course on Wednesday evenings starting June 25 at the Washington County Workforce Training Center.

Instructor John Patrick Adams helps you learn basic Spanish skills and accommodate the special classroom needs specific for Spanish-speaking students and their parents.

Tuition is $40. The class meets from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesdays through Aug. 13 in Room 1511, at PCC’s Workforce Training Center, also known as the Capital Center, located at 18624 N.W. Walker Road at N.W. 185th Avenue.

Form IS Function in Feng Shui

TANASBOURNE — Many of our challenges in life can be traced to how our physical environments affect us. So say the tenets of "Feng Shui," or the Chinese art of placement. Learn exactly how our homes and offices impact our lives in "The Art of Feng Shui," a one-day seminar on Saturday, July 12.

Feng Shui consultant Ann-Marie Holmes will lead a six-hour workshop including a lecture as well as hands-on techniques to employ Feng Shui skills into your home, office or work.

Tuition is $15 plus $20 payable to the instructor for materials. Class meets in Room 1509 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at PCC’s Workforce Training Center, located at the Capital Center, 18624 N.W. Walker Road at N.W. 185th Avenue.

Divorce = Economics Lesson

TANASBOURNE — Divorce is difficult enough emotionally without worrying about your next rent check. In Economics of Divorce, a four-week course at the Capital Center on Thursday evenings beginning June 26, women can gather practical and understandable information to use during their unsettling experience.

Among other topics, instructor Suzanne Wuepper includes tax issues, custody and visitation, spousal and child support, estate planning and dealing with half your former income.

Tuition is $20. Class meets Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Room 1564 at the Portland Community College’s Workforce Training Center, located at the Capital Center, 18624 N.W. Walker Road at N.W. 185th Avenue.

Use It or Lose It

TANASBOURNE — Use it or lose it. That’s especially true with foreign languages. So sharpen those umlauts in Keeping Up with German, a seven-week course at the Capital Center on Wednesday mornings beginning June 25.

The conversation class, led by Anneliese Hellweg, is for students who have taken at least one full year of German instruction.
