MPH, BS, ACSM Autism Exercise Specialist
Exercise Science

Valerie will use Duvall funds to: attend an in-person Yoga and Meditation small group workshop to learn and experience those practices from master trainers. While this workshop is not specifically related to credit in earning a degree or certificate, it does offer an invaluable experience to grow Valerie’s knowledge, skills, and abilities in the field. The meditation work is directly applicable to Valerie’s current Meditation 1 course that she is updating this summer.

As a former professional ballet dancer, health and wellness were always paramount in Valerie’s personal and professional lifestyle. After retiring from a career in dance, she transitioned into teaching health and fitness. Health involves more than only exercise and it brings Valerie great joy working with students to bring balance and wellbeing with a holistic health approach.

After graduating from the Exercise Science program at PCC, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a triple major in Exercise Science, School Health Education, and Community Health. Valerie continued on to earn a Master’s Degree in Public Health, with a focus in Health Education and Health Promotion. She regularly attends workshops and earns certifications to continue her education and growth in an exciting and ever developing field.
