This photograph was a self portrait taken for a photography class. I use muted pastels and soft bright lighting to stand in stark contrast with the words "Mother" scrawled on my bare stomach in red lipstick. This photo is an exploration of how the pain and violence of motherhood and childbirth contrast with the joy, softness and beauty of it.
