In this photo I am exploring the role of women in fairy tales and folklore and how it relates to their expected roles in society, both now and in the past. I use a short depth of field, with the bright bloody apple in focus in the foreground and a smiling figure out of focus in the background, to evoke a feeling of dread and menace.
