Jae Rivera | “Mi Papá Beto”

This media file is attached to: Painting / Watercolor

This painting is a project where I explored scumbling and glazing in an attempt to create a photorealistic effect. I used only black and white acrylic paint, and attempted to mix the grey as little as possible. This is a portrait of the patriarch of my father’s family. Mi Papá Beto is a very proud Mexican man. His spirit is unweathered by age, and I attempted to paint him as the strong person he continues to be at his 93 years of age. This series in which I painted him is a tribute to my Mexican roots.
