This was a class assignment to paint a flat, two-dimensional still life of objects seen from above. I chose a stock photo of a small bowl of tomato soup and a grilled cheese sandwich I shot years ago as my subject. I wanted it to be simple, blatant and familiar, but still contain extremes of color and temperature - warm, bright food and cold setting.
