This was created as part of a landscape painting assignment. My reference for this image is a photograph titled "Moonset at Sunrise" by nature photographer Galen Rowell. I love the otherworldly feel of this image. I wanted to emphasize the dramatic lunar landscape contrasted with the unearthly orange light cast over the Sierras.
