Adam Stratton | “Study of Two Hands”

This media file is attached to: Drawing

This drawing is a study of the sculpture "Two Hands" by Auguste Rodin. Though I chose to study a cast of the sculpture, made from bronze, and while it wasn't an intentional choice, I feel it offered a much more interesting and personally fun study. Since the metal is a reflective material, I had the opportunity to accentuate the light, and to really practice "making my darks dark and my lights light," which is something that has been drilled into my head by art teachers since grade school. Additionally, I was able to focus on hand anatomy, and recreate each crease and joint to the best of my ability.
