Morgan Larsen | “The Mouth of a Cave”

Our assignment was to make a five-drawing series based on a word. The word given to us was "Juxtapose." I never worked with this theme before, so I would spend a lot of time looking up visual examples and came up with my own idea. My idea was based on how some people phrased the entrance of the cavern. I painted the background black because I wanted to focus on the visual imagery itself as if it were conceptual. Using acrylic paints and a graphite 4B pencil, I concentrated on the realism by values to the color and the textures to the lips and the rocks.
