How to use JAWS in the computer lab
This guide is intended to walk you through the process of accessing JAWS, a screen reader software available in PCC computing labs. Since we use a program to manage access to the Windows desktop, JAWS may be required to navigate through the desktop log-in process.
Access JAWS
- Because no screen reading software is running by default when you start working on computers in the SCC labs, you will need to open JAWS with Windows-Ctrl-J.
- JAWS is now running, and you will be able to use it until logging off the computer.
- Once JAWS is running, do the following to log in:
- Press Space Bar to get to the login screen.
- Enter your PCC username and then press Tab.
- Enter your PCC password and then press Enter.
- A short pause will occur while the desktop is loaded.
- To log off the computer, press Tab until you get to the Log Off prompt
- Press Enter on the Log Off prompt to end your session and restart the computer.
