Course Description

Covers the design and fabrication process through cardboard prototyping, Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD), and manufacturing using laser cutters and CNC routers.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

Apply Design Thinking principles to develop solutions for flat pack furniture design challenges.
Construct and evaluate cardboard prototypes to test furniture form, function, and assembly.
Create a digital flat pack furniture model using Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) software.
Operate a laser cutter to fabricate flat pack furniture components safely and accurately.
Operate a CNC router to produce furniture parts based on digital design specifications.
