Course Description
Covers how to identify common Oregon conifers and apply proper pruning techniques, including which broadleaf pruning methods to avoid when caring for coniferous trees and shrubs.
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon successful completion of the course students should be able to:
Analyze plant family characteristics to systematically identify tree species, progressing from broad classifications to specific identification.
Recognize the physiological differences between angiosperms and gymnosperms, especially as they pertain to pruning
Differentiate between reduction, removal, heading, and tipping cuts
