Course Description
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

Describe sign language acquisition, bilingualism, sign systems, language variations, and language attitudes.

Discuss current research in the field of sign language linguistics.

Conduct and present research related to sociolinguistics in the Deaf community.
Course Activities and Design
Activities include readings, lectures, discussion, small group activities, and research.

Students will be assessed on assignments, activities, research, and exams.

The course content includes:

Terminology used by linguists

Research in the field of sign language linguistics
