Course Description

Covers intercultural communication and interactions. Discusses ethics, conflicts, power, privilege, oppression, advocacy, social justice, and intercultural dynamics within and outside of Deaf communities.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

  1. Describe the impact of culture on communication, perception, interactions, and society. 

  2. Describe the effects of oppression and discrimination.

  3. Analyze and apply advocacy and social justice skills.

Course Activities and Design

The course includes lecture, discussions, and role-play activities.

Outcome Assessment Strategies

Students will be assessed through quizzes, assignments, and activities.

Course content includes the impact of culture on communications, perception, and society. Emphasis will be placed on developing communication and social justice awareness.
