Course Description
Introduces fitness assessment for generally healthy populations. Covers client consultation, pre-screening procedures, assessment protocols, and results interpretation. Audit available.
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon completion of the course students should be able to:
- Conduct an initial client consultation to gather client information, and promote and sell fitness services.
- Select and administer pre-screening tools and fitness assessments for generally healthy individuals in accordance with industry standards.
- Interpret pre-screening tools and fitness assessment results and communicate them to clients.

Describe the health benefits of physical fitness.

Administer appropriate health screening and evaluation of health risks.

Apply ACSM Guidelines to exercise testing.

Identify safe and appropriate testing methods, and modifications.

Communicate with clients regarding testing administration, guidelines, purpose, and interpretation

Describe normal and abnormal cardiovascular responses to an exercise testing bout.

Conduct field and laboratory tests of the 5 health related components of fitness.
