- Placement of Practicum 3 in licensed/certified community early education environments, or Head Start/Early Start Programs
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon completion of the course students should be able to:
- Use observations and evidence-based tools to describe the multiple influences on child development and learning in order to support young children and families.
- Support the engagement of families and communities in the education of young children through respectful, reciprocal relationships.
- Use assessment partnerships with families and with professional colleagues to build effective learning environments for young children.
- Use a broad repertoire of developmentally appropriate teaching/learning approaches to support young children’s learning.
- Design, implement, and evaluate developmentally meaningful and challenging curriculum for individual children using knowledge of appropriate early learning standards and other resources.
- Apply knowledgeable, reflective, and critical perspectives on early education to caregiving practices with young children birth – 5 years.
Outcome Assessment Strategies
- Participate in Mid-term and Final conferences with the mentoring team (Supervising Faculty and Mentor Lead Classroom Teacher) to review progress.
- Assessed on classroom practices by Mentor Teachers and Supervising Faculty throughout the term.
