Course Description
Covers the application of integrated multidisciplinary learning in the dental hygiene clinical practice. Emphasizes critical thinking for evidence-based treatment planning and incorporates time management and quality assessment principles into clinic management. Focuses on developing skills at the beginner clinician level, with a focus on periodontal patients.
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon successful completion of the course students should be able to:
- Employ efficient data collection and assessment at the beginner clinician level.
- Recognize and address special considerations in the provision of dental hygiene care.
- Implement the dental hygiene process of care on periodontally involved patients.
- Formulate patient-centered treatment plans independently.
- Perform preventive and therapeutic hand and ultrasonic debridement at the beginner clinician level.
- Utilize pain management in the provision of dental hygiene care.
