Course Description

Introduces concepts of police leadership and supervision and its impact on high reliability organization. Examines differing managerial styles and collaborative practices as a means of discovering one’s own leanings and strengths. Focuses on ideas and suggestions to help improve leadership skills through incremental and positive changes over time. Audit available.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon successful completion students should be able to:1. Direct and oversee daily police operations using contemporary and innovative leadership skills and techniques.2. Create and improve leadership skills using one’s own strengths to render incremental and positive changes over time.3. Supervise and lead in a police agency with the ability to consider risk factors in complex situations in order to help avoid catastrophes.
