Course Description
Continues the work of Chinese 101. Introduces further Chinese language and culture. Emphasizes effective communicative skills in written, and spoken Chinese. Includes listening, speaking, reading, writing, pronunciation, Chinese characters (hanzi) and grammar. Audit available.
Intended Outcomes for the course
Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to:
- Read and identify some basic information from words, phrases and simple sentences that are written in Chinese.
- Write a mixture of words, phrases and simple sentences about familiar and everyday topics.
- Speak about familiar and everyday topics using a mixture of practiced or memorized words, phrases and simple sentences.
- Listen and identify some basic facts from memorized or familiar words and phrases in spoken Chinese.
- Recognize and describe some basic Chinese cultural products and practices related to everyday life.
