Course Description

This class will introduce trades/apprenticeship instructors to strategies to address the needs of students with disabilities, to improve classroom management, and to engage students effectively during lectures and improve student content retention.

Intended Outcomes for the course

After taking this course students will be able to:
•    Utilize research-based strategies to engage students during lectures and improve student content retention;
•    Meet the expectations and requirements related to the accommodation process;
•    Gain beginning familiarity with some of the powerful resources that are available to help support student learning as well as those available to support faculty professional development;
•    Increase comfort working with students who may experience disability and need support or adjustments to fully engage.
•    Gain familiarity with PCC procedures in order to apply classroom management intervention strategies.
