Course Description

Covers information generation, processing, distribution and utilization for the management of construction projects and construction companies. Emphasizes the design of the information process, the role of information technology in construction, software selection and the ongoing evaluation of the efficiency and effectiveness of the information process. Audit available.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon completion of the course students should be able to:

  1. Use Revit to assist information flow and project management in construction companies.
  2. Assess applicability of Revit through project parameters.
  3. Build a basic BIM model using Revit.

Outcome Assessment Strategies

  1. Individually interview a professional who currently uses computer software using questions developed by the student.
  2. In teams, develop criteria for the selection of an application for a business function.
  3. Individually use the criteria to research a specific software application and present it to their team.
  4. In teams, present findings and recommendations as part of a class presentation.
