Course Description

Focuses on a specific anthropological topic and explores it in detail. Topics are drawn from the four sub-fields of anthropology and provide an in depth examination and analysis of the chosen subject. Topic specific theories and methods also highlighted. Audit available.

Intended Outcomes for the course

1. critically analyze the methods and theories associated with a specific topic within the field of anthropology.

2. reflect on how personal and social values are shaped by culture at the local and global level

3. use an understanding of the specific topic to gain a greater appreciation for cultural expression or the discipline of anthropology as a whole.

Outcome Assessment Strategies

Student mastery of outcomes may be assessed by any combination of the following:

1. written or oral examinations  
2. participation in class discussion, exercises, small group activities or role plays  
3. objective or essay examinations  
4. performances  
5. oral or visual presentations 
6. participation in community or professional events
