PCC gets $193,000 to train ESL instructors
- PORTLAND, Ore. - The Grants Office at Portland Community College has announced a $192,475 award from the Department of Community Colleges and Workforce Development (CCWD). The grant will go toward developing a pool of ESL instructors and industry trainers. The instructors and trainers in turn will support the implementation of "lean" manufacturing principles for workers who have limited English skills. Posted February 23, 2005

Apple, PCC pick multimedia student
- CASCADE CAMPUS - Portland Community College's Multimedia program at the Cascade Campus teamed with Apple Computer to honor talented PCC students. Twenty-one students entered projects in a contest that was judged by Apple employees and PCC staff and faculty. Three projects were chosen as outstanding, and on Feb. 3 received a Certificate of Excellence from the department and a gift donated by Apple Computer, Inc. Posted February 15, 2005

Building community with her art
- PCC art instructor Marie Watt explores the meaning of community through her artwork "Braids," which was on display at the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian in New York City last fall. It is currently on display at Lewis and Clark's College's Hoffman Gallery through Feb. 19.
