Carolyn Moore Writing Residency Program Coordinator

Under the direction of management, the Carolyn Moore Writing Residency Program Coordinator will work in conjunction with the HARTS Council Carolyn Moore Writing Residency Steering Committee to coordinate residencies, programming, and outreach for the Carolyn Moore House that will engage students through class visits, campus readings, and mentoring student writers. Acts as point of contact and liaison for Carolyn Moore Writing Residency program to ensure overall effectiveness of programming and oversees day-to-day operations.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Coordinates program development work, in collaboration with the Steering Committee, other PCC entities, and local literary organizations, including but not limited to event coordination, and program curriculum development.
  2. Establishes and coordinates a visiting writer application and evaluation process that adheres to Charitable Gift Agreement its provisions related to diversity, environmentalism, etc.
  3. Coordinates ongoing scheduling and logistical arrangements for all visiting writers and helps facilitate their on-site experience (i.e. readings, class visits, teaching engagements and other related events).
  4. Facilitates an equitable and inclusive, dynamic program that is deeply integrated into college and student life, has a national presence, and is integrated with other programming at the College, with a focus on equitable student success. Evaluates programming and reports findings to appropriate stakeholders.
  5. Plans, schedules, attends, and facilitates meetings with the Steering Committee. Attends HARTS Council meetings and presents updates and plans.
  6. Engages the broader College community around the residencies and programs to support a variety of College initiatives.
  7. Works with PCC Facilities and Maintenance, Administration, Capital Planning, and the Foundation to coordinate house maintenance, acquisitions, improvements, capital expenditures, compliance with regulations, etc.
  8. Ensures continuity and consistency with regards to programming and makes sure that programming goals can be fully realized utilizing methodologies and pedagogies that recognize diverse perspectives and needs.
  9. Maintains the Carolyn Moore library and archives located at the Carolyn Moore Writers House. Curates the collection and may work on acquisitions and designing programs for utilization.
  10. Liaises between residents and property management company to ensure that emergency maintenance issues are addressed.
  11. Works with Communications and Public Relations at PCC to promote and advertise the Carolyn Moore House and the Carolyn Moore Writers Residency Program and related events locally and across the nation. Creates promotional media including but not limited to announcements, email communications, brochures, etc.
  12. Positions in this classification may perform all or some of the responsibilities above and all positions perform other related duties as assigned.

Work Environment

Work is mainly performed in an office environment.  The incumbent works regular hours but working hours may vary and evening and/or weekend work may be required.  Occasional lifting, guiding and/or carry of materials may be required.  Travel between campuses and to the Carolyn Moore House will be required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Art, Humanities, or related field.  Experience performing the duties of the position may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.  Three years of experience teaching at the college level and experience coordinating events (e.g., literary, arts, and humanities).
