Associate Space Planning Project Manager

Under the direction of management in the Office of Planning and Construction, the Associate Space Planning Manager is responsible for managing the college’s space inventory and utilization data and supports the assignment of space resources for the college.  This position will ensure that existing physical facilities are used effectively and efficiently to support college programs and activities.  This is a highly collaborative position requiring coordination and alignment with a number of college programs and initiatives.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Review, update and contribute to the management of a comprehensive space inventory with floor plans and room classification in collaboration with Facilities Management Services, College Operations, Scheduling and others.
  2. Develop and manage space planning standards based on best practices for the community college environment.
  3. Form and facilitate a College Space Management Committee to guide space assignments and determine appropriate space allocation.
  4. Conduct regular audits on space resources for  all college buildings.  Audits will include collaboration with stakeholders to validate space data and support space planning initiatives.
  5. Support major capital project work of the college, particularly in the assignment of spaces for temporary relocation of programs when needed.
  6. Develop and manage a new space utilization/occupancy system and analyze trends to provide recommendations that support efficient use of buildings and campus assets and lead to continuous improvement of space data accuracy.
  7. Generate space metrics reports and dashboards for review by college leadership.
  8. Present reports and other space-related information to a variety of audiences within the college including student groups, faculty and college leadership.
  9. Integrate space management with the college strategic plan, facilities plan and academic plan.
  10. Build and maintain collaborative and productive partnerships across Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, administrative services, and shared governance bodies in order to integrate institutional effectiveness, planning efforts, and holistic student support.
  11. Implement and promote the advancement of the College mission and equity goals
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is generally performed in an office environment with frequent interruptions and irregularities in the work schedule. Working hours may vary and occasional evening or weekend work may be required. Frequent travel to other PCC locations is required. No special coordination beyond that used for normal mobility and handling of everyday objects and materials is needed to perform the job satisfactorily.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Facilities Management, Planning, Construction Management, Business Administration or related field.  Four years of demonstrated experience in space management in a campus setting Proficiency in a variety of computer-aided design software and space planning tools.
