Job Summary
Under the direction of management, the Admissions Center Specialist ensures success with the admissions and enrollment process for new students. Works to resolve difficulties and overcome obstacles encountered in the admissions process. Works to identify, understand, and resolve unique issues and barriers for special needs populations. Contributes to individual and team new student enrollment goals.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains daily operations of designated admissions welcome centers/spaces as needed.
- Support new students in the completion of admissions and onboarding steps from application up through class registration.
- Interprets and responds to student inquiries regarding admissions, registration, and new student policies and procedures for onboarding new students. Gathers information from students in order to understand and evaluate individual circumstances; interprets relevant policies, procedures, and guidelines to determine best course of action. Refers students to the appropriate department for further assistance as necessary.
- Evaluates individual student circumstances to advise best course of action; Maintains accurate records regarding nature of interaction, discussion, and resolution.
- Support new student access to their new student accounts and acts as student resource in troubleshooting or referring to IT as needed.
- Utilizes Admissions CRM and other technologies to manage assigned caseload duties and help resolve student issues before and after admission.
- Answers general financial aid questions, including FAFSA process, timelines, and the PCC financial aid process. Assists students in filling out the FAFSA and ORSAA. Makes necessary referrals to other student service offices, as needed.
- Maintains regular communication with Student Services Navigation, First Year Experience, and Advising teams in order to provide appropriate student referrals; works collaboratively to assure well-coordinated assistance for new students.
- Assist with campus-based student outreach efforts including coordinating campus tours, scheduling rooms and preparing logistics for campus visits, and providing presentations for new and prospective students.
- Refers students to college resources including: Career Services, Financial Aid, Tutoring, Disabilities Services, Advising, Veteran Services, Resource Centers, and Student Leadership Programs.
- Conducts multi-channel outbound communications to prospective and new students to support new student recruitment and onboarding. Will host and provide application and registration labs and info sessions for new students.
- May need to travel to additional PCC locations as needed to support center staffing.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
Work is typically performed in an office environment. Extensive use of computers requires long periods of sitting at a desk. During peak periods incumbents will typically work extended hours, including some weekends.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Sciences, Liberal Arts, Sociology, Psychology, Student Services or related field. Experience performing related duties may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis. Two years of experience in a postsecondary environment in a student services capacity working with students or coordinating services.
